Will it last until the reset?
Stats projects your pace to the reset for every weekly and 5-hour limit, then tells you what will be left or exactly when it runs out.

Real app. Not sped up.
Recorded on a MacBook with demo data: open the panel, flip to Stats, check whether the week lasts, then switch to Unified.
Reads little. Keeps it local.
No TokenGauge server, no analytics, no telemetry, no ads and no model requests.
Your Claude Code sign-in
Reads the existing Claude Code credential from the macOS Keychain and keeps it in memory only. It never writes, creates or renews it.
Two destinations, nothing else
The only request TokenGauge makes itself is Anthropic's usage endpoint, with that same token. Update checks go to GitHub through Sparkle.
Codex stays local
Codex numbers come from your own local codex app-server. TokenGauge makes no HTTP call for Codex.
Counters, not conversations
Reads local session logs for timestamps, model, reasoning effort and token counts. Prompt and response content is never read or stored.
One private folder
History lives in Application Support with user-only access. Nothing is uploaded.
Status line, if you want it.
Run the opt-in installer to add a capture fallback to your status-line script; it backs up first and expects the app in ~/Applications.
The real panel, up close.

Questions, answered.
Is TokenGauge free?
Yes. TokenGauge is free and open source under the MIT license. No account, subscription or API key.
Which Macs does it support?
Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. Intel builds are not currently distributed.
Do I need both Claude Code and Codex?
No. Install and sign in to the one you use, then pick it in TokenGauge. Without a signed-in provider it shows a sign-in state and never invents a balance.
What does it send over the network?
Only two things leave your Mac because of TokenGauge: the usage request to Anthropic's own endpoint, using your existing Claude Code token, and Sparkle update checks to GitHub. Codex data comes from your local codex app-server.
Why might macOS ask about the Keychain?
Claude quota needs the credential Claude Code already saved. Depending on that item's access policy, macOS may ask before TokenGauge reads it. It is kept in memory and never written back.
Are token totals the same as quota?
No. Quota percentages come from the provider. Token history is locally observed activity and is not used to calculate your remaining quota.
How do updates work?
With automatic checks on, TokenGauge looks for signed Sparkle updates on GitHub in the background. When one is ready a banner offers Install now or Later. You can turn checks off in Settings.
Is it affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI?
No. TokenGauge is independently developed. Provider names and marks belong to their owners.
Stop guessing. Glance.
Free for every Apple Silicon Mac. Install it, pick your agent and the menu bar does the rest.
